Principal's Message 2009

Kia Ora Koutou

The needs of the pupils are paramount, as stated in the school's Mission Statement:

"Inspiring students to learn and grow together"

Isleworth School recognises, celebrates and caters for individual differences throughout the school, making it a safe and happy environment that we can be proud of.

Our teachers are highly motivated professionals who use a wide range of learning strategies to promote Integrated Curriculum Learning, into the 21st Century. Teachers develop, implement, evaluate and reflect on programmes, making learning meaningful and relevant to all students.

Over the last three years we have worked to redesign our curriculum and now have an up–to–date document which reflects the intent of the New Zealand Curriculum and is soundly based upon the latest teaching strategies as identified in research. This new curriculum ensures our children are developing the skills necessary to enable them to become global citizens of the future.

Computers are used extensively in each classroom to enhance student learning. The school maintains regular contact with other schools by way of sporting and cultural exchanges. Children are encouraged to remember the school values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring at all times.

The involvement of the school community has for years been a strength which has been utilised with considerable benefit to pupils, teachers and parents. The students, staff, PTA, Board of Trustees and local community work in partnership to create a friendly, safe and caring school
